The masks:
We had to color our masks with fine markers but we had to respect a few rules. Don't put 2 identical colors next to each other and don't color outside the lines.
After that, we practiced how to trace vertical, and horizontal lines with a new tool: the ruler, on a white paper and then we had to trace lines on our masks with a ruler and a black marker. We tried to be very precise and applied.
Recipe and games on the smartboard :
We talked about ingredients and tools and then we talked about the steps we had to follow to make delicious french pan cakes. We made a few games on the smartboard related to the crepes: numbers of eggs, how to write "LES CREPES/ les crepes" in upper and lower case...
Cooking activity:
During this activity, we followed the recipe and we worked on language and mathematics...
We tried to use the past to express what we just did. For example: The teacher asked the question: "What did Mateo? " He broke one egg and put it in the bowl"...We also tried to use pronouns " He or she ". We worked on the vocabulary of ustensils ( spoon, bowl, pan,...) and ingredients ( flour, oil, eggs, milk, salt...). We also worked with mathematics because we tried to determine, for example, the amount of flour we needed . Here is the situation: We need 3 glasses of flour, we pour one in the bowl, how many more left do we still need? Same process for the eggs (3 eggs total) and the milk (4 glasses of milk total).
Finally, we tried to find how to cook the crepes? The teacher brought at first a rectangle baking pan. We didn't want to use it because we knew the crepes have a circle shape. So we looked in the class for something with the right shape. Marc found a pan in the kitchen corner. We agreed but Naomi did not because she realized the pan was in plastic and would melt when we'd put it on the stove. Finally, the teacher showed us a real pan and asked us if this one would be better. We all agreed because this pan was made out of metal.
During nap time, Elizabeth cooked all the crepes in the kitchen of the auditorium.and we saw her finish them all .
Bon appetit:
At the end of the day, we put on our masks and while listening to a funny french song about crepes we ate our delicious crepes with chocolate, sugar or jam...yum!!!!!
The poster:
The following day, we created a poster about crepes and masks. With the help of pictures, we explained the different activities we did using the past tense, the pronoun "we/on", and we tried to put back all the steps of this event in chronological order.
